The Lutheran High School Driver Education Program is NYS certified and meets all the criteria needed to award its students the MV-285 NYS certificate of completion. This certificate entitles the student to obtain a NYS driver's license at the age of 17.

  • The driving program staff have over 35 years of combined driver training experience and bring a wealth of knowledge.
  • All instructors, both classroom and in-car, are NYS certified. All vehicles have a second brake for safety.
  • Classes are designed to not only be informative, but fun as well.
  • Students are expected to participate and be engaging in all facets of the program in order to become an effective and safe driver.
  • Driving with friends can enhance the learning experience.
  • If your child would like to be in the car with friends, that can be arranged.
  • Once all students are registered, (1) the parent should send an email with all the names requesting that they be placed in the same car. 

A $100.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. IF NO DEPOSIT, THEN YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED AND YOU CAN LOSE YOUR SEAT. BALANCE IS DUE NO LATER THAN 1 WEEK BEFORE THE START OF THE PROGRAM.

NOTE: ONLY (4) STUDENTS PER CAR MAXIMUM.

**OFFICE HOURS - MONDAY-FRIDAY - 11:00AM to 2:00PM**

Students will have homework and a benchmark quiz, including a final exam to gauge their knowledge comprehension. They will also participate is group activities such as PSA (Public Service Announcements) contests as well as other group learning activities to keep them engaged.

Students will also use drunk goggles to experience the effects of driving under the influence.

Instruction will be given on other distracted-driving scenarios, such as music, phone use, and other people in the car. 

Once the student's car and classroom assignments have been completed, NO switching will be allowed.

Switching will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
